SERVE

Make Sure You Are Hitting Up And Not Down!

One key aspect for a great serve is to develop a motion where you hit up rather than down.

On the serve this can be especially deceiving because you naturally have a very high contact point which leads to people trying to hit down way too much. Sit down on the baseline and have a look what you see, this will give you a look at the servicebox through the net. Try a few serves sitting down and see what you are now doing to get sucess. I hope this will give you a better understanding of the concepts:

1. The height of the net and

2. The depth in which you are trying to get the serve into the box.

So how can you incorporate this idea into your serve practice ?

I recommend that you try to hit the ball up more than you are doing right now. Imagine your body and your arm moving up through contact. Don’t worry about overdoing it either. The chances for this are very small! and better long than NET.
